Hi all, I just came out of hospital last night so it was really nice to come home to see all the gorgeous photo's in the competition.

I have voted but I didn't do it any scientific kind of way. For some it was colour and others it was composition and others I just loved 'em! I really didn't go by orchid type as I voted for a few that I have no idea what they are. I adore No 24, can anyone tell me what it is?

Funnily enough I didn't really vote for all those that made the top of the heap. I didn't vote for the one that I think we all know will make the cover

Also another nice surprise is that I have an entry and I thought what I sent wasn't suitable. It's not going to make the calendar but it's nice to see it in the comp!

I did a little bit of analysis (as much as the pain killer will allow! ) and I've notice the top 13 are definitely of the more exotic/unusual orchids, some of which I don't know what they are. Another point I noted where that some types of orchids were totally absent or almost so. I was also surprised that more Phals weren't represented.

Anyway I'm rambling........blame the meds I just want to say I loved being part of the experience and I'm so glad I'm part of this community.

I'm always amazed with my choices for the calendar... When I post them I always 'think' I know which photos are going to make the final cut ... I'm never right, but the calendar is always amazing !!!

by the way this year I'm going to go on the edge a bit...we're not going to do calendars through CafePress... their calendars are OK, but I just received a sample from a printer. This year we will have better quality glossy paper and a bit larger format. I'm also thinking of adding an extra month...maybe Jan 2012 as the last page... problem is, I have to buy them first, so if I over buy, I'll be stuck with them...if I under buy, I'll have you guys cussing me out... Not sure what the price will be yet, but I'm hoping to be less than last year for a much nicer calendar...at any rate... this years calendar will be amazing!!!

I think it's just a very fun project and community bonding at the same time. Hopefully it will raise few bucks for hosting of OB too.
