Either way, good job and good luck to all who entered!

I've not voted yet but this is what I did last year and what I will do again.
Scan down and note all those which 'jump out' at me. Vibrant colours are a big factor but not everything, sometimes an interesting but not so bright one will catch my eye.
Marty has usually already cut ones which don't have good focus (incidently the reason mine didn't make the cut). I look for well lit, well composed with the flower/flowers taking up a lot of the image. Good clear background without anything that might 'disfigure' the enjoyment (such as ugly pots)... although I also like natural backgrounds on ones taken in the wild.
Generally way more than 13 will 'jump out at me' as 'wow' so there is no need to consider the ones that didn't. This is a lot of personal taste, and also will go a long the lines of what orchids I like or find interesting.
Once I have the first list I go through and do a 'bubble sort' using little pieces of paper with each of the poll numbers written on it. Now only those into programming will probably know what that means... but it goes like this... (
1. Take the first two on the list (just in numeric order at this point) and decide which I like best. Put down the pieces of paper in that order.
2. Take the third... compare it to the one that came second in step 2, if I prefer the new one put it in position 2, if I prefer the one previouly in position 2 put the new one in postion 3.
3. If the new one in step 2 was put in position 2 then I next compare it to the one in position 1, if it's nice it moves up, else it stays in postion 2.
4. Take the fourth and repeat... now there are three already in the sort, so it gets compared to each in turn until it goes between the one I like more and the highest one I like less.
5. Repeat with all that made the first cut.
6. Now take those which ended in positions 1-13. Take a look at those which were in positions 14 and higher... if I'm really disapointed that any of them missed I take another look at that (1 maybe 2 pics) and see if there were any that made the top 13 that I would be less disapointed to drop. This bit can be a
really difficult decision because if I've done the earlier steps correctly then I will like all the ones in the top 13... but sometimes I change my mind
So then I have my top 13 and I go through the numbers and vote. Last year I had to have two screens with two copies of OB so that I could put pics side by side to compare and decide their order.
Most people probably think that is WAY too complex... but it worked for me last year.
