Good morning, friends
***You can read all this and still do what I had originally planned
OR
you can go to page 3 of this thread and see how it's changed
An article on ANY Phal would be great...and the prize is still the Phal equestris keiki
Hubby and I had a brainstorm this morning and we came up with what I think is a really cool idea!
I'd like to create a crossword puzzle for the Tampa Orchid Club newsletter but couldn't decide on a subject. John suggested creating one based on a specific genus.
I went a step further with suggesting a specific species
Then I thought
I could also find an article on that species to use as an educational piece
and then my brain started hurting and I had to stop for a while
:
Okay, that's better
Back to the story...
Why not use a species that I have in bloom right now AND will still be in bloom at the next meeting?
Why go "look" for an educational article at all? Why not check Orchidboard's archives and find one?
and then...it hit me!!!
Why not start a contest at Orchidboard to have an article specifically written for this reason?
What would the prize be??
The beautiful keiki that's seen in this picture which is Phal equestris 'Three Times A Lady' x 'Blue Too'
Here's what I need:
1. an article that will not take more than one standard page.
2. the article should tell the readers the specifics of how you grow your Phal equestris including lighting, watering, feeding, temps, potted or mounted?, and any tips you would like to pass along.
3. a picture of two would be very nice
I will be taking the liberty of correcting any spelling errors before it goes into the publication. The article will be printed in the September issue of the TOC newsletter...and I will use the information provided to create the crossword puzzle. A copy of the newsletter will also be sent to the winner.
Time is of the essence here...
all articles must be emailed to me no later than
SATURDAY SEPT 4th.

I will post the poll on Sunday Sept 5th and voting will be open until Saturday Sept 11.
I will ship the keiki to the winner the following week
