I have decided that whatever's picked, I am going to attempt growing it like my save "just add ice" Phal, in 1/4 bark and 3/4 pebbles. It is a project, and I want to see if that was just a freak of nature or if it is some how benificial.
Is anyone else trying something new with this project???

depends on the plant... some of them in the list,I would like to try mounted (now that I am building a greenhouse, I will have place and right conditions for mounted plants).. others, I would grow them in pots... and I think that none of them will go in S/H, like most of the plants I have...

Lol. What are you going to mount on? I'm hesitant on mounted chids, and only have one Dend. that's mounted on a "garlic basket". But it's thriving. I'm tempted myself to try a cork mount.

let's take the latest list from Dave:
Dinema (Encyclia) polybulbin - mount
Paphiopedilum delenatii - pot
Amesiella monticola - mount (I have one mounted in my vivarium and it loves it)
Angraecum didieri -Mount
Gastrochilus japonicus - mount
Laelia Purpurata - pot
Maxillaria tenuifolia - pot
Rhynglauca (Brassavola) glauca - mount (but could also be pot)
Aspasia lunata - pot (maybe pure Sphag!)
Dendrobium laevifolium - I have it in Sphag and it loves it! but it does well mounted too!

Sounds good! What are your thoughts on pebbles?

I would quite like to try another mount, but it will depend on the plant. My first project plant was also my first and only mount and I quite fancy another one.
If the Laelia wins then I might try that in lecca (but probably not S/H) as I've heard they can do well like that and my existing one is in bark so I would like to compare.

I would really like the Laelia to win also, what varieties do you have?

My current one is a cross between two named varieties... can't remember them just now, but it's meant to be a dark one, we shall see when it flowers.
