OK
I think the poll should be done in a fair way (and I think Dave's plans ARE fair) but I agree that whatever come out of that is what we get.
There are a couple of them I might need either you or Camille to help me get from Europe, but most of them are going to be easy to get. If I buy from either of the two main nursaries I've found most of the plants at then I'm going to be getting some of the runners up as well
I really like the fact that these projects get you trying new things, but actually just reviewing the suggestions list and the poll list has made me think of trying some new things. For example it doesn't look like Mediocalcar decoratum is going to get through... but I'm really tempted to try something completely different like that in the near-ish future.

Lol. Does anyone know who else has to vote, because I'm too excited to find out which chid I have a reason to buy... Lol. I already ordered a couple of the ones that don't seem to be winning, just the purpurata, and that one I've been meaning to get for a while... I love it! 6" or more flowers make my heart skip a beat.
I know nothing about Encyclias, so I'm going to need someones help with that one if it wins.

Oh wow, I didn't know that! It's 15 F (warmest) here in Kansas in the winter! I won't be able to do that either! Aren't the suggestions supposed to be intermediate...

A lot of people disregard the 'official' temps, and it was decided in the other thread that the encyclia can grow intermediate based on experience of others. I'm still wary though, since it gets pretty cool at my place during the winter.

Guys, don't be afraid of the Encyclia it is an easy plant, and it does pretty well under intermediate temps too. FYI this species pretty adaptable and it grows (at least in venezuela) from sea level up to the montane region in the Venezuelan Andes, where it is for sure not hot! It will only need Cattleya light (but can also take more if you can provide more) and would also need teh roots to dry out "quick"
no need to be afraid of it

if it is pretty cool during winter, you opnly need to be carefull with the watering.. but that's the same as with Cattleyas and Tolumnias (personally, I consider Tolumnias more complicated than Encyclia!)
