2010 Calendar - VOTE for Final Picks

I drooled all over my keyboard, I'm surprised it's still working. Those are some ABSOLUTELY gorgeous photos, would love to know the names of them. I think I saw a couple I recognize, but now I have to go drool some more while I make my decisions...Oh the choices....I can't make up my mind for 13, never mind a daily or even a weekly picture...imagine the number of choices then... it just makes my head hurt to think about it even.

I had 19 on the first round.

Cutting those last 6 was too hard.

After almost 2hrs, I finally got it down to the required 13 photos. Very hard to choose just 13.

It took half an hour to figure mine out. I tried to use some basic photographic judging rules, such as eliminating pics on basis of distracting or competing objects in the photo; sharpness of the object/picture; object to frame size; and position in frame.

All the flowers are beautiful, but some pics will print better

Ok that was tough! Took me about ten minutes to pick 12 "obvious winners and another half an hour to pick #13 out of 8 others. I tried to stick with photo quality and artistic perspective criteria, instead of "oooh, I want that!!" Easier said than done.

Congratulations to ALL of the photographers. You have outstanding skills!

I photographed AOS award winning orchids between Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona for nine years, and had to go through the list more than once just to get to 13--they were all great photos, though! I LOVED the Laelia tenebrosa in photo 55--it's hands-down the best of the lot! AND; once I voted and checked the poll, I saw that I was not the only one who thought this way! What a group of photos, all, but that Laelia deserves to be your cover shot! It is simply breathtaking!

47 is Habenaria medusa (Habenaria myriotricha)

And, yes, choosing those 13 photos was difficult. There are marvelous pics, gorgeous plants, plenteous flowering, plants I now definitely need - hard to choose. I just think some will print better and look better in larger dimensions.
