I'm home now and celebrating her victory with an El Presidente Cocktail. This is one I read about a few years ago in the column on old cocktails the Wall Street Journal used to run, written by Eric Felten. It may be a pink drink but this boy likes it.

El Presidente Cocktail
Into an iced cocktail shaker, pour:
1 to 3 Tbs / 15-45ml Grenadine syrup
Juice of 1 medium lime, approximately 1 shot glass
2 shot glasses of white rum
Dash of Angostura bitters

Shake well; pour into a cocktail glass.

My interpretation would be one of my summertime favs - what is called a 'Leninade:'

1 1/4 ounce citrus vodka
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
dash grenadine
splash of Sprite
about 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, stalks removed

They both sound good to me. I may have to give them a try. Hard to beat the nectar of the Gods...Gin and tonic...... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

At least it's not a boring election year, either party. There are days it gives me great entertainment, and then there is the days I want to put a bullet to my head so it will stop.
