Default Sweet Summer Smoothie

We drink a lot of fruit smoothies in my house. I buy a lot of fruit for my 1 & 2 year old and making smoothies ensures that we don't have to throw any fruit away. The smoothie we had today was a hit with the entire family and I thought I would share.

In a blender add:

1 cup of water
3 peeled cactus pears
Half of a cored pineapple *it's easier to blend if cut it into medium squares
6 ounces of red raspberries
3/4 cup of ice

Then blend, serve and enjoy. This makes around 4 to 5 cups. Note: I have found its much easier to blend the fruit then add the ice and blend it.

Cool! Cactus pears, huh? I'll have to try that!

My fridge / freezer died last week - had a fair amount of frozen fruit for smoothies that had to be trashed

Uhhh, sorry to hear about your fridge/freezer. We had one die earlier this year; it's a bummer to have to throw away food!

Thanks. Was very painful throwing all the food away. For the first time, I had a full freezer

'Tis the season....evidently. Mine kicked the bucket last week! It was only two years old!
