coelogyne assamica - brown buds

Hello,

This coelogyne assamica came to me all the way from China and all the poor thing's roots had died. It's now got the beginnings of some new roots and two new growths happening.

It seems to be trying to produce flowers, but the buds are brown. They aren't dry to the touch, and they continue to grow, but it doesn't look right to me.

What could be causing this problem? Humidity, fungus? Any thoughts are appreciated.
