Hello...Can anyone tell me what the best thing to pot Coelogynes in?
Also, the internet says to give cool growing Coelogynes a rest after a new growth has matured. Does this mean a rest from water or fertilizer or both and how long of a rest?
Judy ...I am not am expert on this genera but I grow mine in bark. I grow the warmer coelogyne
massangeana as I live in the sub-tropics. These can be watered and fertilized all year. The cooler growing cristata require a rest when the new growth mature and until new roots appear.
I actually tend to grow mine 'mounted' whether I want to or not. They always overflow any pot I've got them in and start attaching themselves to things. It would probably do well on a mount.
I'd say any potting would work, use what you have.
