Wow Katrina!! That plant is awesome! What size pot is that in 10-12"?
How did I miss this before?
I had one of these once upon a time, could never give it enough light to make it happy Now I wouldn't have enough room.

It WAS in a net basket sitting inside a clay pot for stability. I can't remember exactly but it was either a 10" basket or a 12" basket. Given it's now 5 very good sized chunks (the smallest in a 5" pot)...I'm strongly leaning toward the 12". Of course, w/it's growth habit of spreading itself out...it might have been a 10". ??? The only thing I'm sure of is it had gotten too big for me to easily accommodate it on my shelves. [I need a g/h!] It's in pieces now and before the fall the extras will find new homes.
I should've taken pics of the process! Roots woven in and out of the net basket required cutting it out and removing MANY of the roots in process. Then a combo of a japanese saw and a serrated knife to get the darn thing cut into pieces. I even had to cut the bottom of the root ball off because it was so dense and I couldn't get the basket out and get it apart so I just cut the bottom 1-2" off. I go through this every time I divide it and I swear it only gets stronger and better. The smallest piece (in a 5" pot) had zero roots...it's growing them now. I think it might be the toughest orchid I have.
OH! And 2 of the pieces popped flowers this past month. Glandulosa definitely disproves the theory that all Coels will sulk if you disturb their roots. Not this one!
Anywhoo....great plant...one of my favorites...and I'm glad you like it.

Yea, but it'll take me at least a little while to fill that up before I have to worry again.
OH! Better yet...maybe I should just move to a place where I can grow them outside all year round. A place with a very big yard.

We could all use a "weed" like that! (I suspect your "weed" is growing better than most under your care)
Is there a fragrance? If yes, what's it like?
[Edit] DOH!! Just realized this is an old thread . . . my comments still apply.

Dennis- yea, old thread but that's OK. It does have a fragrance but I'm not good at describing smells. What I can tell you is it's not what I would call a normal flower smell. It's not unpleasant but not "nice"...it's definitely no C walkeriana or B nodosa.
To my nose it was kind of a weird, musky sort of smell. It's not overly powerful so you wouldn't need to worry about being overrun by it in a home setting. At least mine isn't.
FWIW - I was sold this plant as a glandulosa but SilverShaded (who knows Coels like no one else I know!) has said (more recently than this thread was started) that it's not a glandulosa. I have kept my tag and added the new name info as well as a ]?] behind it. Here's the thread where we discussed the ID.
Need Coelogyne glandulosa culture info

Thanks for the update Katrina. I will look at the link. Wonderfully fragrant or not, still a beautiful plant!
