No not he luteola, you must save it. I want one of those but am afraid my conditions may be to cold.
Your orchid is lovely, I like the ones with the long spikes. Sorry you guys are having such cold weather. It must be hard when you are not set up for it.
And you have no warm clothing burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

No-Pro-mwa, trust me, I have so much warm clothing for me, I actually do travel up north and to the mountains a lot, skiing trips as well, we do love Jackson Hole and go pretty much every year, sometimes even twice:-) But I don't have worm clothes for my chids:-) Luteola seems ok, do not see any damage by now, and the new growth is still growing more. I know that it can stand some colder temps, so it should be fine:-) It is cool to worm growing Cattleya, so you actually may have success with this one!

A couple of years ago we had amazingly cold weather here in Puerto Rico too.
People that lived in the mountainous elevations even had to go and buy coats, hats, gloves and scarves! That's how unreal cold it got!
And some folks went and bought little electric heaters.
Thinking that might be an idea for your balcony in case temps go down again. You never know, and it might help some. Here's hoping it stays hot, both here and there. It's been pretty chilly at night here too

I forgot you came to my neck of the woods to go skiing. Yep have to have warm cloths for that. I thought I read some place it liked it warm, the luteola that is. I was going to order one from Gold Country orchids but got stuff from Sun Valley instead. It will have to wait as I am not going to order anything at least till next summer.
Has yours ever bloomed, I can't remember if I have ever seen a picture of it.

Lilac, it is always strange when really cold weather comes, and unfortunately another cold front is actually coming this week, Wednesday and Thursday night only 48, Friday night only 50, Saturday 53, but it shouldn't be so crazy windy and also not rain, I hope. Im not packing again, I just can't do this on weekly basis, will see, they must fight!
