I need the humidifier for the winter mainly but growing in the house still doesn't provide as much humidity as I would like. I'm going to put most of my orchids outside for the summer but I'm waiting for the temp to go up at night. It is still dipping into the 40s a lot of nights. It seems like I usually have them out by now. But some of my plants are going to stay inside all year. I want to get a humidifier at least before they come in at the end of summer. I read some reviews on the model you have and they are mixed. Many people say they had a problem with it leaking all over the floor. They also said it is hard to clean. Have you had any of these issues with yours? I will need one that is easy to clean because I have a lung disease and a compromised immune system. Also how much does it raise the humidity? Thanks!

It is easy to clean it, I do it once a month in the shower using the hose nozzle. The other parts can be put inside the dishwasher=this is made out of good kind of plastic...It doesnt leak on the floor at all, they must have put it on an uneven level or they did not put it back with the waterhole on its proper placement. It turns off automatically if the water level is low...my humidity reading is 65% on my digital battery operated meter...
I am very clean with my surroundings and I hate dust...so I dont acumulate dirt on my humidifier that much...my water doesnt even have residue

Okay thanks. I was thinking the same thing about the people with the leaking issues. They probably didn't put it together right.

Oh, wow~ I know how nice it smells because I had seen it at NYBG orchid show. I thought these were cool growing plants?
I have one, but a different variety. I think mine has come to a stop. I will post a thread soon.
Does yours make skinny and pointy flower spike that takes forever to develop and finally open???

Yep....skinny pointy spikes that looks braided and takes too long to open. The trick is...do not wet the spike...or the leaves....soak it gently in a pail of room temp water...until the media is evenly moist...do not let the media dry...I have a saucer/bowl of water under the pot and then when it dries up I soak the pot in the pail again...the fragrance is not overpowering...it is floral and pleasant....I hope to see your pictures soon.

No worries, Howard....pretty soon it will open its blooms....we have good humidity now in our grow zone so I stopped the humidifiers...the temperature is still a bit cold but the frost is gone....my Vandas are out in the fire escape....
the reason I dont like to wet the leaves is: it discolors it and leaves dark spots...so I soak it in a pail of water when the humidity tray runs dry
