Bud, I don't think I've seen anyone here being 'vicious' in questioning ID of plants, on the contrary some of our most knowledgable members are consistently the friendliest. This forum has utility as an informational resource and it benefits all of us to help correct IDs. It's not an offense or personal slight, only an adjustment of our collective body of knowledge.
Aside from attributing source and thus respecting intellectual property rights (which, BTW, are not limited to restrictions on commercial use), linking helps others assess the credibility of a cited source. Many growers mislabel plants on occasion, knowingly or not. Some are so bad about this that I don't accept an ID from them without further corroboration.
To insert links in OB posts there's a little button with the other formatting tools in the reply editor interface; it looks like a globe with two chain links and is 3 spaces to the left of the 'insert image' button. When you click it a scripted window pops up and you can type or paste hyperlink text into it. Once you go back to the regular text editor you can change the text displayed as the clickable hyperlink:
This links to IOSPE's Coelogyne cumingii page. Hope this helps!
Sorry for the thread highjack, Brenda...
