No, I don't know anyone with this plant. If you have Facebook, you could join the NOV-Orchideen FB group and ask there (if you don't know it, NOV = Nederlandse Orchideeën Vereniging. It's the national orchid society). Don't worry if you don't speak Dutch, occasionally people do post in English. Otherwise I can ask for you!

If you felt like it I wouldn't object, I don't use FB.

I guess ill just apply base principals. FWIW, this is the plant, its in bloom. Interesting shape. Kind of like an oncidium standing on a long thing stem. That is new to me. Weird but cool. Supposedly this is a fragrant plant but i dont smell anything yet.



Would I be alone in thinking this should be repotted asap? The media looks kinda of stale and very wet.



Update: reading more I see some people saying "repot yearly" and others saying "repot as rarely as possible as it will set the plant back". Sigh. :-)

As has been said elsewhere, if you feel it needs repotting, do it. The plant will benefit from it in the long run, even if it gets a slow restart.

Nod. Good point. The more I look at the media the more I think it is in order. I am just a bit intimidated as I have no experience with this type of orchid at all. It doesn't even look like anything i have experience with. I mean beyond the cute flower. :-)

Fear not. Read relevant data from the AOS and go from there. Kinda like trying a new recipe with unfamiliar ingredients. You will do fine and so will the plant.

I'm not familiar with this particular one, but I have found that my Coelogynes do like to be on the damp side.. this one could use a repot, but not a rush. I have also found that they tend to want to escape from the pot, and grow quite nicely with growths and roots exposed to the breeze. I like either baskets, or shallow pots ("bulb pans", lots of surface relative to the height) to accommodate their rambling growth habit.
