Hi Rob

I am sorry I missed the additional photo you added. I have seen photos of this species before and not been much help there either.

Given the sirally twisted rachis it is likely that this species originates from the Philippines or Sulawesi. Your plant is definately not Dendrochilum convallariaeforme (syn bicallosum) on account of its side lobes and petal shape, although the plant remotely resembles a species in that group. All Philippine species in subgenera Platyclinis section Eurybrachium, except for Dendrochilum auriculare and Dendrochilum hastatum, have entire labellum's (inc apoense, mearnsii, propinquum, graciliscapum). Note: the orchidspecies.com photo of Dendrochilum mearnsii is not that. The prolonged apical wing suggests that this species may be in subgenus Platyclinis section Platyclinis. Having checked all line drawings of Philippine species in that section I could not find a species that matches this.

I need to revisit the species from Sulawesi otherwise this could be a new species. Have you emailed Henrik Pedersen?

Next time it flowers send me a couple of the flowers.

Cheers
Trey

Thanks for the help. No problem this thread made me notice that when I update the thread title it doesn't change the main name but just the title of the first post.

Unfortunatly I have no idea on the origin of this plant we bought it at a trader in Germany but didn't ask him where the plant was comming from. I'll try to remember to do this next time we visit there. I could even try to get a seccond specimen.

I'm not familiar with Henrik Pedersen.
