In the book "Understanding Orchids", William Cullina says that Coelogyne was one of his early orchids and still one of his favorites. Some Coelogyne are warm growing and some cooler growing. It would help to buy from a grower in your area so you get one suited to your environment. He recommends Coelogyne cristata, fimbriata, flaccida, and lawrenceana. I don't know which ones are warm growing. They like to be moist all the time like phalaenopsis but need a little more light than phals. He also mentions that they are sensitive to poor quality water. Good luck.
