Looks great Fred! How cold do you grow your plants in winter? I have a big beautiful plant of this species, but it never blooms! The leaves are light green to yellowish, so I know lighting is not the issue.

Hi Steve!

This is a Coelogyne that blooms only when subjected to a "hydric stress" - not just a resting period, but to give a strong dried! This year our winter is unusually dry (a horror for some Stans!), and then it gave many spikes! If the temperature drops along with the dry also helps!

Thanks for the heads up about the hydric stress! Also, make sure you beautiful Stans make it through the winter!

Very nice coelogyne...but not mossiae. This is a commonly mislabelled plant in the coelogyne growing community. This is Coelogyne Unchained Melody (flaccida x cristata) that has been mistakingly sold as mossiae for the last few decades. The true mossiae is incredibly rare and not available in cultivation. A photo of it can be found here. I've been trying to spread the word, as have some other growers, although unfortunately it seems that this misidentification has stuck deep and is hard to uproot. Hopefully everyone reading this thread will help spread the word too so we can get rid of this case of mistaken identity!
