I always manage to leave an orchid show with one folly, and this year it's a Pleione, bought with no cultural knowledge, just the admiration of a plant in the exhibition room. The vendor (rushed as they always are) handed me a culture sheet, but for an entirely different plant. So, I've been researching books and internet. The specimen I bought is labelled P. wallichiana. It seems that this name is no longer correct, and should be Pleione praecox. If that is the case, I have a fall bloomer that needs slightly warmer conditions. However, the largest new growth shows evidence between the leaves of a bloom stem that has been cut. So I'm (its) confused.
Is it safest to provide cool/alpine temps (the basement refrigerator for it's rest) or the warmer temps (not sure where this will be yet)? Any advise would be appreciated!
