Coelogyne schilleriana rot rescue! - Orchid Board

Hi All....looks like I unfortunately kept this too wet over winter, and there is quite a bit of rot in the pseudobulbs. What are my chances of rescuing this and any recommendations?

The two newest growths are at the top right (circled). One still looks ok. I'm wondering if I should see if it will get new root growth as it is or chop away from the rot first? It's now sat in full sunlight and giving it a weekly dunking to give a bit of moisture.

I realise the plant may already be done-zo...bit gutted as it was going so well last summer, but the rot was hidden under moss growth over winter. In hindsight I should have kept it a lot drier.

I haven't grown this plant. My usual site to look up species is IOSPE, which I can't reach now. I read about it on other Internet sites.

I think doing surgery would harm it. I would just wait for it to grow with good conditions.

The Marni Turkel Web site says:

As I mentioned I'm not familiar with this plant, but when other Coelogynes get too dry for too long they lose pseudobulbs just like this. I don't think you have rot, it's dessication.

I think my conditions were likely too cold and wet over winter and that created the initial rot. As we've moved into summer the south facing windowsill is getting decent sun now, so I think that's what has led to its now desiccated look.

Reckon I'll hold off on any surgery at the moment and just make sure to hydrate properly going forwards. Fingers crossed and all that!

The various sites say its low in habitat is 14C.

I think I went a bit cooler than that unfortunately. We went away for 2 weeks in Feb and was probably more like 10-12c, no high. Likely would have been ok if kept drier.
Annoying as I thought I worked out a good culture for it as I have it mounted on some wicking fabric and sat in a glass jar. During summer it's blasted with sun & moisture, which led to it growing that much larger pseudobulb last year.
Anyway, fingers crossed on its survival!
