Ops...Growing tips!

Stonedragonfarms -- where did you find your Pleione limprichtii at? I would love to add these to my collection

Calvin -- I stopped all water and feeding on my Pleione formosana in October and still have them outside in zone 6b. I will leave them outside until it gets down to freezing temps. Once the leaves have dried completely I will take them out of the pots and leave them in my coal room where it stays 40-45 degrees all winter long. I will watch for growths to start in March and will repot at first sign of this growth.

Well, it's February, and the P. maculata are still plugging away. I'm wondering if they will bloom or just go straight through to p-bulb production. These have proven not to be a fall bloomer for me

Be careful with the moss it is planted in. I found these bulbs rot super easy. Live moss might be better if you can get it and dont use anything looking remotely like it contains soil.

Thanks Brett, most pleione I grow in either sphagum moss or a mix of treefern & perlite. Live moss grows too fast in my greenhouse and often overtakes whatever it is growing in.

I currently grow three different variations of Pleione formosana and plant them all in regular potting soil. They have grown great for me and have flowered every year and make new bulbs every year.
