I just bought a very lovely Coelogyne pandurata
from Kaleialoha Farms. It was shipped quickly and well packed.

The last time I went to the Tamiami show was January 2017. One vendor had dozens of Coelogyne rochussenii in flower. He grew them in long-fiber sphagnum moss (LFSM) kept soggy wet.

i realized i never updated this- i made a "wet board" to mount it to.

just a piece of cedar or pine with a basket of gutter guard attached

she's bloomed each winter. the show gets better each year- the smell is.... weird. it ranges from a nice, lemony, little too sweet smell to straight up cat piss and fermented lemonade.

but really nice to look at lol

Coconuts - I really like the suggestion of the mount you made. I will be going out, cutting up some wood, and making a few for my plants. Thanks for the idea.

I can't answer for them, but I also picked up one labeled pandurata last year. The spacing between the pseudobulbs was already quite large so I put it in this longish pot (in sphagnum, pumice layer just below vents) and it grew out of it real quick. I'm growing indoors where I assumed it might be too cold and dry for it to thrive, but it seems relatively hardy.

I'll probably strap a small pot with some more moss to those new roots, but long-term I'm still not sure what to do with it. If anyone knows a trick to get these things to clump more and climb less I'd love to hear it!

I bought a rochussenii last year. I put it in a 6" plastic hanging basket which I fill with the same mix I use for pretty much all my Phrags, bulbo's, Oncidiums, etc. It's a mix of 80% small fir bark, 10% med charcoal and 10% sponge rock with several sprigs of sphagnum mixed it. I line the inside of the pot with coconut coir to keep the mix from escaping the mesh basket. Not only did it flower nicely for me but now it's growing over the sides of the basket. Seems happy enough. This pic is from early December and it's added 4 or 5 new growths since then.

It took me a bit to figure out what that question was all about Seca.

That's an Audubon Brown Pelican print. Not orchids, they are mangrove's.
