Calvin, I will most certainly post more photos as things progress. I think its fascinating to see these developing - they are so different!
I think my challenge will be keeping them wet enough through the growing season this summer. You say you hope yours recovers - but that's exactly what it looks like its doing - you've got so many new growths. I just have the one.... |
Hehe I hope so! Overall it just doesn't seem like a healthy plant - but I think I was trying to change too many things at once, so I'm just going to let it's one healthy growth develop for now and see how it goes
I can't wait to see your blooms - and I hear they are fragrant too! It's neat how different coelogyne species bloom in different ways...I have a cristata that's popping up a new growth now, but these flower completely differently from nitida! *sigh* I love coelogynes :) |
My cristata is doing nothing!
But, I think I can count 6 buds showing through on the nitida!!! http://www.orchidboard.com/community...tida_6Buds.jpg |

Wow! Your pictures made my day, Shakkai! Thanks for documenting everything! :D :D Can't wait - I hear they are fragrant too!
|
I'm really excited to see them open up! I'll let you know about the fragrance... I love flowers that smell nice. I'm still disappointed every time I go to smell a beautiful bloom and it doesn't smell at all.
|
They have opened!! :cheer: I can detect a slight fragrance, but nothing really strong yet...

wow! shakkai, that's gorgeous!!! what does it smell like?
I ask because newly I was "confronted" to Coelogyne cristata var. hololeuca and that one stunk very strong like cat pee! I was surprised because my 2 Coelogyne cristata are not scented at all... |
Ramón,
They smell like Rosewater to me.... And I just walked into the room a little while ago, and I could smell them immediately. Very nice!!! |
Beautiful patterning and blooms!! Congrats! I saw one at the show today so I could examine how the blooms form in detail. Wonderful fragrance too - good growing!
