I got this about two years ago as a young plant, and this is its first bloom. It is supposed to be Cattleya percivaliana 'Summit' but I feel confident that it is not, for several reasons. Although the coloration is superficially similar to percivaliana, it isn't quite right. The lip is too short and not tube-like. Also, the flowers on this plant are nearly 7 inches, and percivaliana isn't that big. Finally, it has a strong, sweet floral fragrance, while percivaliana is known for its spicy fragrance which not everybody finds pleasant. But whatever, it's a really nice flower. But now I have to find percivaliana 'Summit' again haha. I bought this plant on eBay from a seller I had only bought from one other time. The first plant I bought from him was also young. When that plant bloomed (it was supposed to be a hybrid that was orange with a red lip), it was obviously a pale pink C. lueddemanniana. Now this one has bloomed, and it is also mislabeled
But it is very nice anyway.
I would like to point out tho that I am impressed by the size of the flowers compared to the size of the plant. The growth that is in bloom is less than 9 inches from the rhizome to the tip of the leaf, and the flowers are over 6 inches.
