I have a small Cattleya greenwich elmhurst that I picked up as a bag baby this fall. I知 growing it inside, but was wondering what its lower limit is in terms of temperature. I知 planning to over summer it outside. If it can deal with 40s though I can probably keep it outside almost year round.
Rlc (Blc) Greewich 'Elmhurst' has about 1/2 cold-tolerant species [Rl.(B) digbyana+C. mossiae+C.( L.] purpurata), 1/3 warm-growing species [C. granulosa] and the rest a mixed bag, leaning to the warm side. So for cold tolerance, it's on the marginal side. 40 deg. F is pushing it... maybe if kept dry. But if it were my plant, i'd probably want to bring it in when nights get much below 50 deg F. (based on the composition of the hybrid).
Thanks for the info :-) I値l plan on treating it like my intermediate growers if I end up moving it outside. I have a small contingent that I bring in the garage at night during the winter.
