Blast from the past.....
Some of you may remember me,...some may not, if your membership is less than 3-4 years old, chances are you never met me. I disappeared for a while from the site. I started a job that had me out of town most of the time. Good for career, not so good for a greenhouse packed with over 300 species of orchids, 10 percent of which were still babies. It pains me to say I ended up losing a good portion to fungus, bugs, and lack of attention.
Those who do remember me, may remember the hybrid I crossed, flasked, and grew from flask that I named and registered in memory of my grandfather. Rsc. Memoria Gerald Miller. (Formerly known as Blc.) is it’s registered name. It is a cross of Sophoronitis (Laelia) purpurata var carnea x Rsc. (Or Blc.) Ablaze Medal ‘U-Emporer’. Due to my work and residence change, only 20 or so of my species orchids are still with me, and only a handful of my crosses made it. I thought I owe the people wo remember me a picture of the first one to finally bloom ever, anywhere, after 10 years of waiting, of this hybrid....introducing Rsc. Memoria Gerald Miller.
