That's definitely a flower bud. When they are small, they seem to grow so painfully slowly. However, once they reach a certain size, which yours certainly has, they finish developing soooooo fast. You'll probably have a flower beginning to open in just a few days.

This is how my Lc (actually Cattlianthe now, I think) Busy Bev 'Blue Jewel' grows. The buds start poking out the same time the leaf is developing, and they bloom before the pseudobulb has even swollen completely, or before the leaf has completely unfolded.

Lc Busy Bev also has Mini Purple in its background. Powerful habit!

Thank you everyone for the input and. I wont cut anything just to see what's inside , most likely there is some sort of a very small bud sheath as was suggested by Selmo and Roberta. I m glad to have even one flower .

An update. About 2 weeks from emerging of a bud to a full bloom.

Not a big flower though.

That deep purple is so nice!

It can be seen that this orchid really glistens too ...... even though the camera isn't capturing the full glistening effect. It will be a spectacular effect to see in person.

Very nice, weather it comes from sheath or doesn’t it is a wonderful flower. I do love the purple cattleyas, you just can’t go wrong with one.

Just one more photo, it has opened fully I think.
No sun this morning, but it is quite a shiny flower.
