Ctt Jewel Box 'Orange' surprise blooms
Default Ctt Jewel Box 'Orange' surprise blooms

I've had this plant for years, and it has only ever bloomed in February, so I was surprised when I saw buds last month. I've started using some florescent lights for some of my plants, and one of the things I've noticed that I like about them is that with the lights directly overhead, the growths grow straight up. This particular plant has always been an especially sloppy grower for me, with the growths just growing out at weird angles, and so the blooms aren't always presented well. For that reason, I left him under the lights for most of the summer while the new growths were developing, instead of putting it outside with most of the others, and it did in fact grow more upright. Nothing else has changed about my culture, so I think it is likely the explanation for the out of season blooms.
