Blc Hawaiian Passion Carmela 'Green'
Found this half dead on a clearance rack a few years ago. With patience, 5$ can go a long way, haha. Large yellow-green bloom with a sweet, citrus-y smell (fruitloops...?). It's not too strong, but seems to permeate the room.
I was an idiot and thought that opening the sheath would help the buds. A day or two later, the second, smaller bud blasted.
I keep getting blotches on the sepals (? i think. the outer petals). I don't think I've splattered water on them, but I'm growing them in a public area at work... so who knows. What are they caused by? Are there ways to protect them from blemishes?

You are so lucky for being able to get this beautiful flower bloom, especially in your company! I was keeping 10 orchids in my company and 4 of them are blooming so I use them to decorate the front desk. Then somebody told HR that I left the orchids in the sink so that other people could not the sink. I was so shocked because I only used the sink when I was watering them and never left any of them there when I was gone. Occasionally, other people came in the break room to use sink when I was watering the orchids. I was told by the HR to take the flowers home now. That's some sad story I have about caring for orchids.

I'm sorry to heart that CourtneyT. Yeah, shared spaces can be very tricky to navigate. I've put mine in a lightly trafficked area... hoping to avoid conflict.
Fortunately, many people at work seem to like the plants. Or maybe they just dont care. haha.
hope your plants have found a place to live!

That's why I am self-employed.

The sepal splotches may be from relatively low humidity.
