Epidendrum polyanthum Male
Default Epidendrum polyanthum

Epidendrum polyanthum used to be a uncommon plant to see here but due to seeding plants available, it could be seen more often.

It's a terrific species. It reblooms on old growths, so don't cut anything that isn't brown, dry, and crisp. I have also found that it not only doesn't like repotting, it doesn't do much until it has pretty much outgrown the pot, the old bark has disintegrated and washed away so that the pot is rather empty. Repot, and it could be several years before you see another flower. I have it in a big clay pot that I pretty much ignore.
