A few years ago, I started getting into the miniature and compact Cattleyas, as I can accommodate smaller plants more easily, and they often bloom more than once a year, and can bloom on multiple growths at once in a relatively small pot. I gave away most of my big standard Catts, because I can fit three or four miniatures in the same space taken up by one standard
However, this is one of the few big ones I have kept, and intend to keep. I think it is definitely worth the space. The flowers are huge (6 inches) and the color is just breathtaking. It has two flowers on one growth right now, but there are buds forming in a second sheath. I think maybe it has a fragrance, but it is very light.
