I looked everywhere for a Bc. Maikai Mayumi for a long time. When I finally was able to find one online for $15, to my disappointment I received a cutting with only 3 bulbs and no roots.

It was a while before it started rooting, but exactly one year later it is blooming for the first time! It has 5 flowers, which doesn't seem so bad considering everything.

I love Brassavola hybrids that are fragrant. I also have the Bc morning glory and Bc keowee galaxy and they're fantastic.

Congrats, Mascia! I tried that one years ago and could not get to bloom no matter what I tried. Finally got rid of it.

Hi Paul,
Thank you! I didn't do anything special other than fertilize every couple of weeks and place them in a spot that gets a lot of light - 2 hours of direct sun and very bright throughout the day.

mayumi is nodosa x bowringiana and it becomes a monster plant in record time... give lots of light and feed regularly... once established yuo will see fast growth

Unfortunately I lost one of the flowers to a hail storm that lasted a minute or so. The other ones are open!

Beautiful! The landscape behind the first photo is very nice, too.

Three weeks later and the flowers that were not damaged by the hail are still hanging in there. I moved it to my window where I can enjoy the fragrance at night.

As is usual with this variety, it faded to an almost white color.
