Lc Garrett Collins x Rth Dal's Moon
Plant Height= 7 inches,compact erect growth habit
Flower Size= around 4 inches
Fragrance of neutral burnt candle wax (This is a first blooming so I expect this will improve)
The bud got caught in the growth, so it is a bit mangled. We will see how it does next time.

I am pleased also
compared to the photo on the vendor's website it is very subdued. Not what I expected but pleasing nonetheless.

Color development can be greatly affected by cultural conditions, particularly temperature and light level while the buds are developing. Reds, for example, are greatly enhanced in cool, bright conditions.

That is true. Where I live, the temperatures varied greatly this autumn while my Burr. Nelly Isler was developing its buds and I got a most unusual (but rather nice) result and not the red blooms for which it is known.
I think it was mentioned, also, that this is a first bloom. I've noticed with many Cattleya seedlings I have raised that the first bloom with these guys sometimes leaves quite much to be desired.
Still, I rather like both the bloom in this post and what is shown on the website so, either way, I think I win (unless the scent proves obnoxious).

What a nice one! Burnt candle wax...at least that is better than the expected fragrance of my Bulbophyllum carunculatum.

I just bought one of these! It really does have a pretty bloom and I am hoping that the fragrance will be a little better than burnt candle wax.
