My First Cattleya about to bloom
Default My First Cattleya about to bloom

My first Cattleya that I ever bought is about to bloom! My completely non exotic 5$ Lowe's no ID bag baby that I bought in May. It grew the new cane this summer and made a sheath that hadn't done anything until a few weeks ago. I can't wait to see what she looks like in bloom. More pics to follow.

Default update

A few buds opened up this morning. Love this cattleya. I was pretty pleased to get it to bloom just keeping by a window. That new cane grew like a weed!

Really nice, and great growing! Did it have a name tag?

Thanks Esatcion Seca! You really sent a very helpful article to me in the paphiopedillum section. I am glad to be having a small victory after my frustrations with my paphiopedillums. I have several Cattleyas and don't seem to have the slightest problem growing them in my living room.

I don't have an ID tag on it unfortunately. I wish I knew more about its origin. It was sold as a bettergro orange Cattleya. It is growing well but it will need a repot before too long.

Thanks! I don't know if you can see it in the picture but it actually has produced 5 buds. This is my first bloom and I would have been happy with 1 or 2. Is 5 a lot for these?
