Sophronitis cernua

Back in January or February, someone (sorry, can't remember who) posted a picture of their Sophronitis cernua. At the time I was in a rage about miniatures (still am) and had to have this one. Well, not one, but two - my theory has always been that an orchid in my care has a 50-50 chance, so I buy two. Well, this is an orchid to put at the top of the "Easy to Grow" list. Mine are under T5s, less than 5-6" from the bulbs, where the leaves can get slightly red-edged, they get about 65% humidity or above, and temperatures between 65 and 90. I water at least twice a day during growth and blooming. One plant now has 2 open blooms with a gob of buds behind, and a second growth that is just showing signs of budding, while the second plant has three new growths, all just starting to show buds. What an absolutely delightful plant this one is!

Your photo didn't go through, and I've noticed this photobucket error many, many other places on the forum. Just did some hunting and this is because Photobucket now charging for 3rd party hosting.... ($400 a year!). You'll have to pay that (are they crazy???) or find a different way of posting the photo.

But back to Soph cernua, it's such a great little mini! I had one, some years ago, and found it to be such a cute little plant. It lasted about 2 years in my care and then it decided to maintain my perfect 100% losing streak with mounted orchids. I should try again...

I do not see your picture but I have had this and it is quite cute. I just wish they were fragrant. Mine always bloomed around December. It disappeared while outside one summer; I should have put it on a larger mount.

I love this plant and was struggling with mine so I bought a second one. Now they both seem okay.

I wish I could see your pics! Photobucket has really mucked up things but breaking links to photos everywhere. I was using them, but I switched to Imgur. Their site is less clunky, few ads and runs faster for me... and I don't have to pay $0.04, let alone $400, just to direct-link photos.

Still can't see a photo... All these photo sites are disappearing one by one, or as with photobucket, trying to monetize something difficult to monetize. I'm on Flickr, but now that Verizon has bought it from Yahoo I can't see them maintaining it as is for much longer. So I'm migrating to Piwigo. It's open source and you can pay a small yearly fee for them to maintain it on their own servers, or simple install it on your own server (which is what I'm - well, my boyfriend-doing).
