That's a neat looking flower! Nice that it bloomed early for you, that's always a pleasant surprise.

So nice. Sad that it doesn't have any fragrance. I saw one at my society meeting last night. I loved the fluffy ball look of the pendant spike. The one last night smelled like melon, maybe honeydew? It was really amazing. I totally want one, but I've got to have one with fragrance.
Anybody got a line on one here in the states?

IOSPE says it's a hot grower and likes things wet. That seems like it would be fairly easy to provide. Any idea why it's not more common in the trade, other than it's a reed-stem Epidendrum?
EOM won't ship to Arizona so I have to wait and hope.

Everyone I've ever known to grow it says it is very difficult. Foliage looks like hell and they all of a sudden die...for no apparent reason. ???? And I'm talking some very experienced growers!
Still, I've always loved it and if I ever run across one...i will give it a try.
