I wish l could have one of these. Beautiful flowers.
I'd love to see a photo of the whole plant.

This makes me more excited for my C. rex seedlings to reach blooming size.
Where did you get this plant, if I may ask?

This is very old primary Cattleya hybrid registered in 1904 (dowiana x Rex). The emphasis is on the gorgeous lip. I obtained mine from Orchids Limited not quite a year ago. Where and when did you obtain your plant and do you know the parents?

Thanks for your comments!
CambriaWhat, terryros - I obtained this plant from Orchidtrail. It is Rex 'Imperial' x dowiana. They no longer offer it, but you can email to see if they remade the cross. Keith Davis Orchds received an AM/AOS from a group of seedlings he flowered from this pairing. Orchids Limited may have sold the same.
rbarata - I will provide an image of the whole plant here shortly.
My plant has a yellow cast to the petals and sepals and Has a better Form than dowiana. It is also sweetly fragrant!

Mine, from Orchids Limited, was rex 'Imperial x dowiana var. aurea, so it is likely from the same cross. I haven't asked Jerry Fischer who actually made the cross and supplied flasks or seedlings to at least several other growers. Here is a link to a picture from Mauro Rosim showing both rex and dowiana var. aurea, showing the contributors to the great lip of this old primary hybrid.

I think Orchid Trail made the cross.

Stunning flowers. Are they fragrant (hopefully dowiana's scent is passed on)? How long do the blooms last?
