Default Cattleya jenmanii var. pincelada 'Estrelinha'

Cattleya jenmanii is native of the Venezuelan jungles. I’ve never seen in nature, but I know someone that went to see it several times and says that it in general grows high on the trees, sometimes more than 50 meters above the ground! This species is very similar to Cattleya labiata, but unlike the latter it still did not pass through the same improvement process by crossing selected clones. So, it’s not often seen flowers with very good shape, most of times they have thin segments. This clone has not good shape, but it has dark purple marks (variety ‘pincelada’) at the tip of the petals and sepals making it a pleasant sight.
I have two different varieties ‘pincelada’, one of them bearing really good shape for the species (the flower is maturing now) though the darker marks are less defined than in this clone I’m showing today.

I guess I just don't understand the 'good shape' thing sometimes, esspecially concerning species. I find it really lovely.

I too think it's very beautiful, especially the colour! Why is it not considered a good shape?
