Cattleya labiata var. rosada
Cattleya labiata is the type flower of the genus Cattleya. The flower caused true commotion when flowered for the first time in Europe in 1818 in the greenhouses of Mr. Cattley due to the beautiful, large flowers compared to the small size of the plant. Lindley founded this genus in 1822 having this species as type and, willing to honor Mr. Cattley, made this one of the most pronounced names in the world on a constant basis. I am pretty sure that not a single day passes without someone pronouncing the name of Mr. Cattley. What an honor having your name tied forever to such a beauty!
Here I am posting a rosy variety of the species.
