Another little gem opened today! There's another bud hiding behind this one, too.

Hi Dana, Very beautiful Slc. you have there. Love the color. Could you please give me a rundown on how you are growing this orchid? I have a young Slc. and it's not doing anything....even after several months! Just curious....thanks.

Very nice flower Dana. I just ordered this one about a month ago from Exotic Orchids of Maui. Does it just bloom at this time of year or can I expect that it might flower later on or in the fall?

I checked out your photo gallery and I am very curious as to what the name of the plant is that has all of the red speckles on it. Very impressive looking.

Thanks, everyone!
Jerry, are you talking about this plant? If so, it's Slc. Jungle Gem "Very Nice' x Lc. Lucky Charms 'SVO'; if not, perhaps you can link the image back. I'm not 100% sure on the bloom season(s) for Numazu Star, as this is my first one to flower.
Kiki, I'm not doing anything overly special for it; i'm growing it under regular flourescents with MSU fertilizer and i supplement with K-L-N, Protekt and Maxicrop seaweed extract and I also do foliar sprays with the seaweed. I give an extended day to make up for lack of intensity, and so far they all seem to be responding well - I'm seeing a lot of new growth and new roots on all of my plants. Hope that helps some!

Dana, I just ordered sixteen minicats from Sunset Valley Orchids on Sunday night. They should arrive tomorrow and in the batch will be Slc Jungle Gem 'very nice' x Lc Lucky Charms 'SVO'. Nice things can happen. When I ordered the plant I never dreamed that it would be the one in your photo gallery with all of the nice spotting. I would grow that plant just for the foliage. Or, did I say that before?

That's great! You'll be very happy with your plants; I've ordered from Fred several times and the plants are always *perfect*. He sent me a photo of one of the plants that flowered out from that cross and I about fell over when i saw it. I also placed another order from him on Sunday - this time for flared flowers, and I'm planning on ordering more of the spotted crosses I got from him because I was so impressed with what I've gotten so far.
And yeah, I just *love* the spotted foliage! Several of the spotted crosses I got from him also have spots on the leaves (if you got any of the crosses with Tropical Pointer in them, they're pretty spotty too), but that Jungle Gem x Lucky Charms takes the cake!
Good luck!!

Oh, and BTW, Jerry.. I love that plant you have for your icon! Is that Den stratiotes? I spent all weekend scouring the net looking for one and then I saw your icon. What a tease! lol..
