Could you please describe where you are and what your growing conditions are? Also, what you think initiated the blooming process. I am growing my tetraploid violacea well but have not yet bloomed it.

I am on a farm in Kansas.I grow it under a four tube fixture, just a couple of inches away from the lights during the cold weather. I move it outdoors onto a shady porch in summer where it gets some late afternoon sunlight, and bright reflected light the rest of the day. I give it a good watering as soon as it is dry.

Probably the biggest thing to watch is to make sure it gets enough warmth and light. New leaves should have some purplish spotting if the light is strong enough. Patience is also key, as it took me a few years to get conditions right. Buds themselves develop on emerging new growth and open soon after the new growth is complete. Good luck!

I just walked into the dining room where I have my light set-up and I noticed the fragrance. I wish I could photograph it. Sort of an exotic myrrh scent maybe with a hint of fruit.
