Sophronitis coccinea and a S. wittigiana cross

I have had some success with some of my Sophronitis this winter:

The first is a S. coccinea 4n from Sunset Valley Orchids, although I bought it from the Orchid Conservancy at last year's spring show. Not very big but the red is intense. I think it was just out of the flask when I bought it.

The second plant is SLC Seagulls 'Apricot' x S. wittigiana, also from Sunset Valley. Pretty color, more pastel than the coccinea.

Both are lovely. I love Sophronitis species and crosses made with them.

Thanks. I have a special affection for Sophronitis, but to date have had spectacularly little success with them. These two blooms appeared under my care, so I'm happy. I have cernua, rosea (wittigiana?), brevipedunculata, mantiqueirana, and 2 more cultivars of the coccinea 4n. None of the others have bloomed yet.

That's absolutely beautiful! Seeing it is encouraging, as I'm trying my first two Sophoronitis and am quite excited about them.

Lovely, just lovely... great growing... I would think your conditions would be fantastic for them. SVO mini catt crosses are great and tough.

Beautiful. Congrats on your luck. I bloomed my cernua this fall but I need to get some others.
