Cattleya Gaston Doin 'Scarlet Kiss'
A primary hybrid (registered in 1902!) between Cattleya rex and Cattleya (Laelia) tenebrosa, this has the bronze color of the latter and flaring genetics of the former. The deep purple lip follows tenebrosa coloration and shape. At 13.5 cm, it smacks right in between the geometric mean of both parents for size. This is a first time bloom since I acquired it 2 years ago and I just adore it so much that I named the cultivar to reflect what it did to me. The first time I saw it I treasured it and wanted it in my collection no matter what I had to do! 😇
