Default Cattleya intermedia

This intermedia is a mixed up pup blooming after an extended fall season that saw very warm temps. Another spike should open soon.

I normally don't care for this species but absolutely fell in love with the color after smweaver posted his blooms in this thread. Steve was kind enough to send me a division and I absolutely love this plant!! Its probably the fastest growing orchid I've ever owned too!

This plant normally shows solid white flowers with just a red 'mosca' spot on the lip. I left it outside in full sun during our first cold snap (down to freezing) as an experiment so the cool temps and bright light would enhance any hidden colors. I was not expecting a light pink blush on the lip or bold lavender at the tepal bases.

I see why you love it. Maybe you will send out some further divisions when you have grown it out some

I think I've been dividing it every year since I got it. Still looks like a bush!

You just described a venosa variety of this species. Nicely grown and so brave of you to put in cold lol

Really beautiful, and a great illustration of temperature effects on pink coloring.

Phoenix had an unexpected dip to 39 F / 3C at my house on the night of November 17-18 this year. Did that system cause your cold snap, too?

I think that was about the same time we got our first cold snap!
