Hi everyone,
Is there a thread or topic section that would be dedicated to mini and very compact Catts on this forum?
I do enjoy reading about the larger Catts but I think a special section focusing on minis and very compact Catts would make the entries easier to find.
I second the idea. More and more breeders are reducing the size of these plants, and a lot more people can now grow Cattleyas. It would be a way to get more people interested in Orchid Board.
My experience has been Cattleyas are more tolerant of drying-out abuse than are Phalaenopsis. A lot of people kill Phals with overwatering, but a lot also kill them forgetting to water. Those people generally realize what they did and don't ask here for help.

I grow some mini and compact Catts as well as a lot of the standard size hybrids and species. I give them all the same basic care. Of course the small ones usually dry out faster, being in smaller pots so they may need watering more often. But it is still just watering them once they have dried right thru. I do find that many mini and compact ones will bloom more than once a year which is nice. And they are sometimes more tolerant of varying conditions because they are usually complex hybrids with varying requirements from a number of species.
Yep, liking mine also. But I am finding I have to water the really small ones every day. Any one else have this problem. I'm always hearing how people over water but I have the opposite problem. So I am trying something new and am trying to leave some water in the bottom of the saucer.
