I've sometimes wondered if the sap might grow harmful bacteria or fungi after a while. So might it be dangerous if you taste it days after it's been produced. Just some random thoughts.

Hello, my friends
Update on this one...isn't it lovely?
I'm really anxiously waiting to see how the flowers look like. It seems they are almost opening, maybe less than a week. Now the buds are aprox. 2,5 inch in length.
I remember when I bought it, it had only one bud and never opened, amon other possible reasons, the bud was "glued" at the tip. So, I hope all this sap doesn't get too sticky.
Under a different light (flash)...
Lots of sap...

It's official!!! I can grow Catts in my environment.
It finally bloomed. It's a lot different from what I was expecting but I love it the same.
I've been investigating in the web and I think it has Cattleya aclandiae in it's parentage. What do you think?
Here are the photos:
A flower close up:
and an overview of the plant. The aerial roots are much longer that shown in the photo, not possible to fit inside the pic (unless I'd show you the mess in my room ).

Beautiful spotted Cattleya! Guessing from your earlier post, there was no tag? Doesn't matter, I would like that even if it is a NOID.

Congrats on the blooms! They look great. I remember your first bud...
I grow lots of Catts in fairly low humidity and they survive and most bloom.

You're right! No tag! But, as I said, the resemblance with C. aclandiae is evident (although not exactly the same).

You remember well...it blasted and never opened.
But I must have been treating it as it should be, judging for the flowers.
I think, growing Catts with low HR is far more easiear than with high HR. One just need to water them more.

Congratulations! There are a number of spotted Cattleya hybrids like this one, but yours has very good color, spotting and shape. I suspect it is a mericlone of an awarded or named plant.
There is a good chance it will develop a really nice fragrance.
