took 3 years for 1st bloom . From Odoms orchids bought in 2013. Was small then and still is small. The blooms spike gets caught in the tight envelope of the stem. If you dont catch em and release them the blast easily. More light? and this flower smells wonderful!!! a bonus indeed after 4 years.

Wow, gorgeous bloom! It is a waiting game isn't it? Thanks for sharing, would have been a shame for it to have blasted.

and just wonderful night time scent. very sweet and clean.

I was going to toss this one out to make room for the big plants that actually bloom. The plant heard me. So be nice to your orchids and tell them how much you love them.

I have become a master at nurturing my orchid survivors. After all, I created them too.

Thanks you all. Flowers are for sharing

I got one earlier this year pretty small, was potted in sphag! turned out the roots were bad so i depotted and cut off all the bad roots... just recently started two new growths... (been quite a few months)... so it may be a few years or more with mine... but i love the growth habit!

So congrats to you and your patience... wonderful flower! Care to share growing tips? Seems it would like high and dry the picture shows it seems you have it somewhat protected and nestled with other things?

It's Brassavola or Rhyncholaelia digbyana x B. nodosa.
