How do growers in cold climates get their plants to shows without cold damage to the plants?
Warm up the car and put a plastic bag over the entire plant to keep it somewhat insulated by warmer air.

One plant in one pot. When the day comes to divide it, it will be a tactical nightmare. The rhizomes are very short and some have "backtracked" onto/over older growths. So when that fateful day arrives, damage to roots and some pbs will be ineviitable.
Wow indeed. I deflasked about 35 of this exact variety around Christmas. They are doing great, but I had never seen a good detailed picture of a mature plant - just flowers.
Good growing!
From your experience with this plant, do you think it would respond well to mounting? I have a few pretty cool large pieces of driftwood that are screaming for some orchids. Any other cultural info would be awesome.
Eventually I'll have to part with some of these little guys too...

I just met one of these today! We went to a greenhouse with hundreds of different chids in it, and this one caught my eye out of them all, the color is just amazing! Intresting story, it was actualy registered theday the owner retired out of the airforce and was bought for him that day:-)
This is a gorgeous plant and i think you have done a fabulous job!
Im pretty sure you can mount just about any orchid. If it were me I would just take the driftwood, put a lil sphag moss under the roots, and attatch with fishing line. According to my orchid source here thats all thats required to mount any orchid, but you must get the watering down pat as they need to be moist to attatch firmly to the bark.
