Default Cattleya hybrid seedling variety

Hello all:
This afternoon I was potting/mounting a number of Pot. & Rlc. seedlings and noticed wide variety in leaf structure and plant appearance among individual plants of the same cross; a couple of the hybrids in particular showed seedlings resembling one parent or the other... This got me wondering about how common this occurs..? Anybody else observe this?

Cacti are the same way. Spine density... thickness... color... stem thickness... tendency to offset... speed of growth... highly variable from seed. Many line-bred species in cultivation hardly resemble their cousins in the old country.

A few of us here have recently had an SVO un-named hybrid blooming for us and there are sure some large variations in the blooms from it. In pics I saw the leaves varied as well, with some being more long and slender and others shorter and rounder.
