new growth...now what?!?

I recently had diseased new growth which may have been as a result of a nutrient deficiency. I got a specialist feed, and moved the plant to the bathroom. In addition, we have had a warmer than normal summer in Scotland, so the plant has thrown out 2 very healthy new shoots, no around 5-6 cms. Do I leave the plant to continue naturally, or am I best to cut off the old leaves where the new growth is coming from? thanks

I would leave it alone. The old leaves will eventually turn yellow and drop off on their own.

Those old growths may look bad but they still produce a lot of energy to support the new growth. Never leave a Cattleya with less than 3 mature growths plus a new start if you don't have to.

Always listen to PaphMadMan. The shriveled leaf may plump up again, although it will take awhile. Loosely wrapping just the shriveled leaf in clear plastic and putting the plant in a shadier spot (bright indirect sunlight-where you would put paphs or phals) to prevent heat buildup may help. It has worked for me, anyways.

Bohata is right, not about listening to me, but those old leaves and pseudobulbs might plump up, especially since you will get a flush of new roots along with theses healthy new growths. Humidity will help, maybe just a loose clear plastic bag over the whole plant.

Great advice above. I would do one thing slightly different though...I'd keep it in bright, indirect light because those new growths can use the extra light to grow and mature. Minus the plastic bag though.

The plant in general hasn't had enough water, which is why the leaves are wrinkled. In the future it will need more.
